K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences is now the first internationally recognised training provider by REPs India – Here’s why it matters.
K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences is the first Internationally recognised academy by REPs India.
K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences was audited by an International Accrediting Body, PD: Approval which is an auditing body assigned by the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPS).
PD:Approval awarded a grade of “OUTSTANDING” to K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences in their audit.
While REPs has been around for some time in other countries like UK, UAE, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, Canada & South Africa which ensures the quality of training for REPs recognised professionals & gives them the ability to practice anywhere in the member nations, now India also joins the list of member nations with a Register of its own, to standardise fitness education & training provided, to raise the quality of training and bring the fitness industry in India at par with the international industry in the form of REPs India.
We are excited to see that REPs India has forayed into the Indian fitness industry. As of today, K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences, is India’s FIRST and ONLY REPs recognised training provider in India.
So, what does it mean for you as a personal trainer? Let’s take a look.
What is REPs?
REPs stands for The Register for Exercise Professionals. It was launched in 2002 & is the largest independent public register for the Health and Fitness Industry in the UK. It recognizes the qualifications & expertise of fitness professionals in the 10 member nations to ensure that the consumers are protected from unqualified trainers, and functions to standardize the fitness industry.
An additional benefit of a REPs membership is that, if you are registered with REPs then you can work in any of the REP’s member nations without having to give additional competency exams as long as you pay the registration fee in that country. The USA is an exception to this.
What is REPs INDIA?
REPs INDIA is an independent, public register which recognizes the qualifications and expertise of fitness professionals in India against international standards. REPs provide a system of regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet the global health and fitness industry’s agreed standards with an aim to maintain international standards in the Indian fitness industry to assure safe and quality service for the clients.
K11 Academy is the first & currently the only approved training provider with REPs India recognition
K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences offers training courses which are backed by scientific research and has been doing so since it was founded. The institute was recognized as an approved training partner by REPs India after excelling in a thorough audit & quality check undertaken by PD: Approval, an external auditing body appointed by ICREPs.
Getting a K11 Diploma in Personal Training means that you are recognized by and are given entry to REPs India. This means that your profile is truly considered to be internationally recognized and thus, it gives you an opportunity to earn more. K11 Diploma in Personal Training will elevate your professional status & give you a competitive edge over the rest.
A K11 Diploma not only qualifies you to be registered with REPs India but also gives you 1-year membership valued at INR 7198 complimentary as a perk of doing your Diploma in Personal Training from K11.
A huge benefit is that you will be able to work as a Personal Trainer in any of the countries that have a national Register for Exercise Professionals (REPs), affiliated to the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPS) without having to take additional courses and subsequent competency exams. Again, please bear in mind that while you don’t need to sit for any additional exams, you will need to pay the REPs registration fee for that specific country.
REPs India has the above portability tie-ups with the national registers of:
- Australia
- United Arab Emirates
- South Africa
- New Zealand
- Poland
- Ireland
What Sets K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences apart from the rest?
Since its inception in 2003, K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences has certified around 30,000 students and the numbers continue to grow. There are currently 5 Centers of Excellence in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata. The journey has been long & very exciting and along the way, there have been numerous success stories wherein the alumni have gone ahead and carved a prominent name for themselves in the industry.
K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences has a dedicated infrastructure put in place for providing education, technical support and placement assistance to students. There are fully equipped classrooms & labs, scientifically researched and copyrighted course material and faculty to provide, not only theoretical but also a thorough and comprehensive practical module.
This is why K11 was able to clear an audit process, which is so comprehensive and detailed, as the one done by PD: Approval, duly appointed by ICREPS, with an OUTSTANDING grade.
What truly sets K11 Academy of Sciences apart from the rest of the fitness training institutes, not only in India but also across the globe, is that it is probably the only BRICK & MORTAR School for fitness sciences as it pertains to vocational education, that makes students job ready for the fitness industry. Its Diploma holders cannot be compared to fitness professionals who earn their certification through online courses.
The end user or consumer of the fitness industry, looking to pay for services provided by a Personal Trainer, should be aware of the assessments done by the education provider for certification. At K11, a student of the K11 Diploma in Personal Training course goes through the following assessments:
- K11 DPT Theoretical Assessment as per international standards laid down by ICREPS
- Sports, Physical Education, Fitness, Leisure Skill Council (SPEFL-SC) Theoretical Assessment, as per National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) – Level 4
- Practical & Viva Assessment (Exercise Execution) as per international standards laid down by ICREPS
- Practical & Viva Assessment (Program Delivery) as per international standards laid down by ICREPS
- Case Study Submissions as per international standards laid down by ICREPS
All of the above assessments make the holder of the K11 Diploma in Personal Training, to be deemed a fitness professional that meets international standards, as laid down by ICREPS.
The end user or consumer of the fitness industry must also be aware of the fact that there are many certifications provided to Personal Trainers, based purely on a theory exam, and strangely enough, the Personal Trainer holding such certification has not gone through a practical assessment. Thus an informed consumer thinking of hiring the services of a certified personal trainer MUST ask the following questions to the prospective Personal Trainer before embarking on hiring his/her services:
Q1. Are you certified to be a REGISTERED Personal Trainer?
In the current scenario, it is important that the Personal Trainer, who presents himself as a qualified professional, has undergone education as per international standards as laid down by ICREPS.
The standards specify learning hours, learning center infrastructure requirements, syllabus content and assessment protocols, that are mandated to the Training Provider (awarding body of the certificate).
A Personal Trainer with an Indian nationality should have received his or her education and certification, subsequent to assessments from a Training Provider/School/Academy that is recognized by this National Register to provide education as per international standards, and thus, upon certification, is entitled to membership.
K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences Diploma is recognized by the Indian Register for Exercise Professionals, affiliated to the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPS).
Thus a Personal Trainer who holds the K11 Diploma in Personal Training is now entitled to be a Registered Personal Trainer, who is a member of the Indian Register for Exercise Professionals (REPs INDIA) under the affiliation of ICREPS.
Q2. (Upon being furnished with the certificate) Which School/Institution/Academy have you done your certification from? OR Has this certification been earned via an online medium?
Online certifications are a compromise in teaching as they cannot compare to classroom and lab instruction provided by teaching faculty, face to face, in person, with students sitting in a proper learning center.
A Personal Trainer certified as a Diploma holder in Personal Training from K11 has gone through education at the K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences centers. 100% of the learning hours as written in our brochures/website are Teacher Guided, on-site and face to face. Unlike many other courses, the number of hours stated, actually meet the criteria of international standards without the hours a student is made to dedicate to home assignments or On Job Training.
This ensures that a Personal Trainer holding a K11 Diploma in Personal Training is thoroughly skilled and technically sound.
Q3. Did the assessments that you were put through, for your certification, entail a practical assessment?
Once again, a Personal Trainer certified with a Diploma in Personal Training from K11, holds a unique place in the Fitness Industry, as one who has undergone, not just one Practical Assessment, but two.
The student at K11 goes through Practical Assessment for Exercise Execution as well as a Practical Assessment for Program Delivery. Supplementary to the Practical assessments are Viva Assessments (Oral Exams).
Program Delivery is also assessed through a case-study based, written submission, that includes, documentation of client history, fitness testing and program prescription.
Along with the theory exams, the K11 assessments needed to be cleared, for earning the Diploma in Personal Training (Recognised by REPs and Accredited by PD:Approval, as per global standards laid down by ICREPs), are most definitely the most extensive and comprehensive assessments in the milieu of Personal Trainer Certifications across the globe.
This is the kind of filter that assessments should be. As an end user, knowing the extensiveness of the assessments should give you a sense of security upon being presented the Diploma in Personal Training by the Personal Trainer being considered by you.

We cannot comment on what other institutes offer or the qualifications of their faculty. What we can confidently tell you is that our courses are extremely comprehensive, with syllabi that are scientifically validated.
Our Personal Trainer courses feature intensive practical training, conducted with a 5:1 student-to-Master Trainer ratio. This ensures every student receives personal attention and sufficient practice time. These practical sessions take place on a fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym floor (referred to as our LAB), providing students with the hands-on experience and expertise needed to become highly effective fitness professionals.
Yes. The Personal Trainer Course, Nutrition Course, and Special Populations Course offered by the K11 School of Fitness Sciences are affiliated with the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC).
Additionally, the K11 School of Fitness Sciences is an Approved Training Provider of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a body under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) of the Government of India. This association exists because K11 has consistently contributed to the development of skilled professionals for the fitness industry. In fact, we have always been the largest human resource provider to the Indian fitness industry.
Yes, after successfully completing the Advanced Personal Trainer (APT) or Advanced Personal Trainer Pro (APT-Pro) course, students have the option to obtain international recognition.
This is made possible through the accreditation by PD: Approval and recognition by REPS India. With this international recognition, K11-Certified Personal Trainers become employable in 10 other countries: the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Poland, Ireland, Malta, Turkey, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom.
NO. Certificates are awarded only to students who successfully clear all required examinations for any course offered by the K11 School of Fitness Sciences. This ensures that every certification issued is a genuine reflection of the knowledge, skill, and competence of the individual holding it.
We do not recommend rushing through the course. The schedule is carefully designed to balance classroom sessions, practical training, and self-study to ensure effective, well-rounded learning.
That said, we request you to connect with a K11 Counsellor, who can understand your specific situation and guide you accordingly.
Please note that regardless of the pace, no part of the syllabus can be omitted or skipped for fast-tracking. Every component of the course is essential and contributes to your complete and thorough learning experience.
While we do not offer a job guarantee, we do provide placement assistance once you successfully pass the required examinations.
Thanks to the widespread recognition and acceptance of K11 Certification within the fitness industry, most of our students confidently apply for jobs independently and are employed at leading fitness facilities across the country.
For those who would like support, the K11 Student Placement Assistance Cell is available to guide students in key areas of career readiness, including:
- Professional Ethics and Career Guidance through the Principal’s Address session, which is part of the course.
- Assistance in creating a professionally formatted résumé, if required.
- Mock interviews to help students prepare for job interviews, if required.
- Grooming tips to help students present themselves appropriately for the fitness industry.
Additionally, the Placement Assistance Cell regularly shares active job vacancies in the fitness industry. Occasionally, employers also conduct online presentations to introduce available positions. Students can either apply independently or request the Placement Cell to forward their résumés to prospective employers. Employers then contact shortlisted candidates directly for interviews. Once selected, students officially begin their careers as fitness professionals.
If a student does not clear the examination in the first attempt, they are entitled to one re-attempt at no additional cost.
If required, further attempts can be taken by paying a nominal re-examination fee. Certification is awarded only after successfully passing all the relevant examinations for the chosen course.
At the K11 School of Fitness Sciences, all education is teacher-led and delivered live. We do not offer correspondence courses or self-study modules.
The theory lectures for all K11 courses are conducted either at our brick-and-mortar schools in 5 cities across India — Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Kochi — or via our Face-to-Face, Interactive Video Conferencing system. These virtual classes offer a two-way, real-time interaction between students and lecturers, closely replicating the classroom experience. Students can raise their hands, ask questions, and receive immediate answers from the faculty.
When it comes to the Practical Module of the Personal Trainer Course, where students learn the form and technique of exercises, this is conducted exclusively in the Exercise LABs — our fully equipped, in-house gym floors within each K11 school.
Here’s how the Personal Trainer Course is structured:
- The theory module (3 months for weekday batches) can be attended from home via virtual classes.
- The practical module (approximately 2 months) must be completed on-site at one of our schools.
We firmly believe that a fitness professional is incomplete without hands-on, practical training, which cannot be achieved through correspondence or online-only learning. This is why K11 remains strictly against correspondence certifications for fitness professionals. Our brick-and-mortar campuses and exhaustive, face-to-face learning experiences ensure that every K11-certified professional is job-ready and highly effective in their role.
For other courses such as:
- Human Performance Nutrition (HPN) Certification Course
- Personal Training for Special Populations (PT-SP) Course
- Gym Setup & Management (GSM) Course
The entire course can be completed via the Interactive Video Conferencing system.
Additionally, K11 has developed a proprietary examination app that allows students of the HPN, PT-SP, and GSM courses to appear for theory examinations from home while being remotely invigilated.
Yes — the HPN course covers everything people look for in Functional Nutrition, but with deeper, science-based Human Performance Nutrition.
Inside the course, you learn the full foundation Functional Nutrition is built on:
- Gut physiology, digestion & absorption
- Hormones & metabolism
- Micronutrients & deficiency mapping
- Energy systems, bioenergetics & fatigue science
- Lifestyle factors: sleep, stress, recovery
- Nutrition planning for real clients
- Functional supplements & functional foods, including:
- Anti-inflammatory nutrients (omega-3s, curcumin, polyphenols, flavonoids)
- Testosterone-supportive nutrients (vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, creatine, fenugreek, ashwagandha—based on real science)
- Sleep-supportive foods & supplements (glycine, magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, tryptophan-rich foods)
- Gut-supportive strategies (prebiotics, probiotics, synbiotics, fibre planning)
This is not trend-based Functional Nutrition — this is the actual science that functional coaches should learn but rarely do.
If your goal is to help clients reduce inflammation, improve energy, sleep better, balance hormones naturally, or simply perform at a higher level — HPN gives you the real scientific foundation to do it confidently.
Most people come looking for Functional Nutrition…
but join HPN because:
👉 It goes deeper
👉 It’s evidence-based, not buzzwords
👉 It’s industry-recognised (NSQF Level 6, SPEFL-SC aligned)
👉 It teaches real applied counseling, not theory-only
👉 You graduate as a Human Performance Nutritionist, which carries far more value than generic “functional nutrition” certificates.
The eligibility criteria set by the K11 School of Fitness Sciences for its courses are as follows:
-
Personal Training Course: SSC (10th Standard) pass or equivalent
-
Human Performance Nutrition (HPN) Certification Course: HSC (12th Standard) pass or equivalent
-
Personal Training for Special Populations (PT-SP) Certification Course: Must possess any of the valid K11 Personal Training certifications
Yes. Our Human Performance Nutrition (HPN) Course actually includes and goes far deeper than a traditional Sports Nutrition course.
You get detailed lectures on:
- Macronutrients & Micronutrients for athletic performance
- Bioenergetics (ATP-PC, anaerobic, aerobic systems)
- Hormones & metabolism that drive training, recovery and adaptation
- Understanding sport-specific demands (strength, endurance, combat, and team sports)
- Applied sports nutrition planning for different athletes
- Performance-boosting supplements like creatine, beta-alanine, caffeine, nitrates, carb strategies, hydration protocols, etc.
The course is aligned with SPEFL-SC, and on clearing two exams, you earn the NSQF Level 6 Sports Nutritionist Certificate (show certificate).
This is actually the upgraded version of our earlier Sports Nutrition Course—Sports Nutrition is our core speciality from day one. We are the ones who started it in India.
Yes, course fees can be paid through Easy Monthly Installments (EMIs) — with no documentation required.

Fitness professionals primarily earn through professional fees rather than fixed salaries. While it’s difficult to state an exact figure — as earnings depend on factors such as knowledge, certification, skill, experience, and individual dedication — there is strong earning potential in this profession.
Most reputed gyms today do not employ non-certified trainers. Certified fitness professionals typically begin with a fixed salary of up to ₹15,000 per month. However, the real income comes from personal training clients, where trainers charge fees per session.
With consistent effort and a growing client base, it’s possible to earn between ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 per month within the first year of starting your career. Many well-established, certified fitness professionals go on to earn lakhs per month through personal training.
K11 School of Fitness Sciences provides a solid platform for aspiring fitness professionals through its industry-recognised certification courses, comprehensive study material, and hands-on practical training. This ensures that students are not just certified but also fully equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed and thrive in the fitness industry.
Ultimately, your earnings are directly linked to the time, effort, and professional reputation you build — and K11 gives you the strong foundation to start that journey with confidence.
Absolutely! The Gym Setup and Management Course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge on how to successfully establish and manage a gym. From understanding the essentials of gym layout and equipment selection to learning business operations and client management, this course covers everything you need to know to get your gym up and running smoothly.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to enhance your existing skills, this course will equip you with the tools and insights to ensure your gym’s success.
A physiotherapist is a highly qualified professional in a field of expertise that is entirely different from that of a fitness professional. The physiotherapist’s role is to look after a person suffering from a musculoskeletal or neuro-musculoskeletal pathology and rehabilitate the person to physiological normalcy. The role of a fitness professional starts with physiological normalcy to take the individual to higher levels of fitness. Hence, a fitness trainer is not qualified to do the job of a physiotherapist or vice versa, and thus, a Physiotherapist must get qualified in the K11 Personal Trainer Course if they wish to expand their horizons beyond rehabilitation.
Yes, we do. K11 School of Fitness Sciences offers all its courses in Hindi, and our Personal Training (PT) courses are also available in Marathi. The course content, teaching, and examinations remain identical across all mediums, and the certificate awarded is the same, regardless of the language you choose to study in.
We also have the Personal Training Course textbook translated into both Hindi and Marathi. We believe that studying in the language you’re most comfortable with ensures better understanding and more effective learning.
Our Human Performance Nutrition (HPN) Certification Course is affiliated with the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness, and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC) — one of the 37 Sector Skill Councils under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
Thanks to this affiliation, students enrolled in our HPN Certification Course are eligible to appear for the SPEFL-SC’s NSQF Level-6 Sports Nutritionist exam. Upon successfully clearing this exam, they receive the NSQF Level-6 Sports Nutritionist certificate issued directly by SPEFL-SC.
NO. It would be completely unethical for a school teaching fitness sciences to deal with topics related to pharmaceutical drugs.
Pharmaceutical drugs, as a class of substances, are prescription medicines for certain disorders and may have serious adverse side effects if not used under medical supervision, and hence, the Human Performance Nutrition (HPN) Certification Course will not cover steroids or pharmaceutical drugs. However, sports supplementation and performance-enhancing food supplements are covered in general in the Advanced Personal Training Courses and in-depth in the Human Performance Nutrition (HPN) Certification Course.
Grades in school and college never really reflect a person’s true IQ. Interest & passion for the subject matter play a huge role in your absorption of the course content. Thus, if you have a passion for fitness and exercise, and you are doing the course from the express desire of learning as much about fitness as possible, then passing the examinations will not be difficult. We have many examples of students who were below average in school and have passed the K11 examinations with flying colours.
No, this is not allowed. The use of the Exercise LAB is allowed only under the supervision of a K11 Master Trainer during the scheduled practical sessions, which are part of the K11 Personal Training Courses.
The K11 Master Trainers conduct the practical classes in the Personal Training Course in such a way that a student learns the bio-mechanically correct form and technique of executing exercise movements by themselves, and also the 1:5 ratio of teacher to students makes sure that each student gets to see the corrections made on their batchmates by the K11 Master Trainer and observe the teaching techniques employed. Client spotting and teaching techniques are taught throughout the practical classes. This gives all students practical and hands-on learning when it comes to teaching exercises to individuals.
The degree and diploma courses offered by colleges are accredited by universities and come under formal education, which typically falls under the Ministry of Education.
We, however, are into vocational education. Our courses are certification programmes and are affiliated with the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness, and Leisure Skill Council (SPEFL-SC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
In India, the accrediting and recognising bodies for vocational education are different from those of formal education and do not involve universities. Vocational education is regulated by the MSDE, while formal education is governed by the Ministry of Education.
We have many students who have done the course and become very good fitness professionals without having any background in fitness before the course. This is possible only because our faculty teach, assuming that the students know nothing and cover all the basics. The only thing necessary is a curious, open mind, respect for scientific facts, and a sincere approach to the studies involved in doing the course.
Yes, a change of batch or transferring the course to any other K11 School is possible. However, this is subject to seat availability in the desired batch and location. A student has to submit a request application for the same to the K11 Student Support Cell by writing an email to support@keleven.com or via the Student Support Section on K11’s official website www.keleven.com.
Yes. Re-attendance of missed classes or re-sitting for classes is allowed for all the courses at K11. However, this is subject to seat availability in the desired batch. A student has to submit a request application for the same to the Student Support Cell by writing an email to support@keleven.com.
They CANNOT. That is why the practical classes in the K11 Personal Training Courses are conducted in a very healthy teacher-to-student ratio of 1:5. That means all the batches of the K11 Personal Training Courses are divided into small groups of 5 students, and each group is assigned a K11 Master Trainer. This ensures adequate practice time for all the students and personal attention from the Master Trainer to each one of them.
The same difference which is there between a face-to-face learning program and an online/correspondence learning program. The K11 School of Fitness Sciences offers courses in its brick & mortar school campuses across the country as well as via two-way live interactive video conferencing virtual classes. The K11 Personal Trainer courses have live face-to-face learning comprising multiple theory lectures and practical sessions. ACE, ACSM, NSCA, etc., conduct online computer-based testing (CBT) exams, which a learner has to clear after going through the study material, which has to be bought separately. There are no face-to-face classroom or lab study hours in these online certification exams. Refer to the figure below to understand it further:

*Every aspect — from the syllabus and course flow to the study material, teaching, and examinations — is designed to make our students job-ready.
Yes, absolutely — this course will give you the scientific understanding you need to make informed choices about products, brands, and ingredients.
You’ll learn:
1) How to identify high-quality supplements vs poor ones
2) How to read and interpret supplement labels correctly
3) How to understand formulations and dosages
4) How to explain products to clients confidently
So, if you want to open a store (offline or online), this course gives you the knowledge foundation to do it ethically and smartly — you’ll know what to stock and how to sell responsibly.
Absolutely—this course gives you a deep understanding of how supplement formulations work, why specific ingredients are chosen, and how they function inside the body.
By the end of it, you will be able to:
- Understand formulation science clearly
- Design smart, effective supplement concepts based on evidence
- Communicate confidently with manufacturers, formulators, and raw-material suppliers
What this means is: you’ll have the knowledge to create your own formulations.
However, manufacturing supplements is a separate industrial process that requires:
- FSSAI licensing & regulatory compliance
- A GMP-certified manufacturing unit (highest standard = NSF-GMP)
- Quality checks, stability testing, raw-material sourcing, documentation, etc.
Most supplement brands you see today do NOT have their own factories.
They hire GMP-certified third-party manufacturers but create their own formulations, branding, and product concepts.
And this is where the course truly empowers you — you’ll be able to speak the manufacturer’s language, evaluate ingredient quality, and design formulas that actually work for real people instead of relying on marketing hype.
Think of it like this:
➡️ You learn the science behind what goes into supplements
➡️ They handle the machinery and compliance
Yes, you can build your own supplement brand after the course — not by running a factory, but by creating your own formulations and having them produced through certified manufacturing partners.
What the course does not cover:
❌ Setting up a manufacturing plant
❌ Industrial production workflows
❌ Regulatory audits for factories
Why everyone can start a protein supplements company today:
Because the entire backend can be outsourced.
You don’t need a factory, machinery, scientists, or an R&D team as mentioned above.
You only need branding, capital, and a contract manufacturer. This is why influencers, gyms, YouTubers, and even small start-ups are launching products so easily.
